Mandaluyong City – A senior citizen fruit vendor has defied the odds and became the sole winner of the ₱16,186,700.00 Mega Lotto 6/45 jackpot drawn last Friday, January 10, 2024,
The winning combination, 12-33-32-17-08-11, came to him in an extraordinary way—through a dream where he saw his late wife giving him the numbers. Driven by hope, he placed a bet the following day at a nearby lotto outlet.
The lucky winner, who claimed his prize on January 16, 2025, at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City, shared his story of perseverance. Despite playing the lottery for just two years and only occasionally placing bets, fortune smiled upon him during a time of hardship.
Life has been far from easy for the fruit vendor. Struggling to make ends meet, he lost a significant investment when a batch of fruits rotted, plunging him into debt and forcing him to give up his rented home. The windfall is now a beacon of hope for him.
“Wala po akong ibang nararamdaman ngayon kundi puno ng pasasalamat sa Panginoon at sa inyo PCSO. Napakaraming pagsubok na po ang hinarap ko sa buhay at lahat mabibigat. Hindi ko akalain na magkakaroon pa rin po ako ng pag-asa sa ganitong edad ko po,” he said.
He plans to use his winnings wisely by investing and saving for the future.
The PCSO reminds winners to claim their prizes within one year of the draw date. Prizes exceeding ₱10,000 are subject to a 20% tax deduction under the TRAIN Law. Jackpot winners must present the original signed winning ticket and two valid government-issued IDs at the PCSO Main Office.
Unclaimed prizes are added to the PCSO Charity Fund that supports vital charitable programs across the country.
The Mega Lotto 6/45 is drawn every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:00 PM, with live broadcasts on IBC-13, D8TV, and the PCSO Games Online Hub Facebook page.
