Ikinalugod ni House Deputy Minority Leader at BH Party-list Rep. Bernadette Herrera ang pagdiskwalipika ng Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Second Division kay Pasig City Congressional Candidate Christian “Ian” Sia dahil sa mahalay na pahayag nito laban sa mga single mother.
Diin ni Herrera, ang desisyon ng COMELEC ay tagumpay para sa pagrespeto, pagiging desente at pagsusulong sa dignidad ng mga kababaihan.
Ayon kay Herrera, ang pasya ng COMELEC ay naghahatid ng malinaw na mensahe na ang mga nais maluklok o mahalal sa gobyerno ay dapat pumasa sa mataas na pamantayan lalo na pagdating sa tamang pagtrato sa mga vulnerable at marginalized na sektor o grupo tulad ng mga solo parents.
Nagpapasalamat si Herrera sa pagpapatibay ng COMELEC na anumang asal, pahayag o hakbang laban sa mga kababaihan ay walang puwang sa ating demokratikong institusyon.
