Mananatili ang Pilipinas sa pagtataguyod ng international agreements nito lalo na sa West Philippines Sea.
Ito ang pahayag ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa 75th United Nations General Assembly.
Sa kaniyang mensahe, sinabi ni Pangulong Duterte na hindi niya hahayaang manaig ang anumang pagtatangkang maliitin ang pagkapanalo ng Pilipinas sa kaso nito sa Permanent Court of Arbitration noong 2016 hinggil sa South China Sea.
“The award is now part of international law, beyond compromise and beyond the reach of passing governments to dilute, diminish or abandon. We firmly reject attempts to undermine it,” sabi ng Pangulo.
Pagtitiyak ng Pangulo na mananatili ang commitment ng Pilipinas sa West Philippines Sea na naaayon sa UN Convention on the Law of the Seas (UNCLOS) at sa 2016 Arbitral Award.
Pinasalamatan din ni Pangulong Duterte ang mga bansang sumusuporta sa ruling.
“We welcome the increasing number of states that have come in support of the award and what it stands for — the triumph of reason over rashness, of law over disorder, of amity over ambition. This – as it should – is the majesty of the law,” sabi ng Pangulo.
Sa ilalim ng 2016 ruling, ibinibigay sa Pilipinas ang exclusive sovereign rights sa lugar at ibinabasura ang “nine-dash” line ng China.
