21 collared in intensified ECQ drive

Baguio, Philippines – The Baguio City Police Office’s intensified implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine rules netted 21 violators in three areas of the city todayIn his report to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, BCPO Director P Col. Allen Rae Co said three individuals were arrested in Pacdal area by the Police Station; five at the vicinity of Cooyeesan by Police Station 1 and 13 at the Central Business District by Police Station 7.As directed by the mayor today, the ECQ law offenders  were arrested, handcuffed and were made to stay at the holding areas for hours.”They were lectured on the ECQ purpose and rules and warned not to repeat the same offense, with no prejudice to the filing of cases against them once the ECQ is lifted,” Co said.Co said most of the violators breached the 24-hour curfew being out of their residences without quarantine passes moreso that Sundays are supposed to be a lockdown day in the barangays except for essential workers.Co told the mayor that they continue to heighten their operations in the coming days.The mayor ordered a boost in the ECQ implementation to ensure the people’s compliance and prevent further transmission of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). – PIO Baguio
