Bulk of initial relief aid coming from the People of Davao City has arrived at Headquarters, 5th Infantry Division, Camp Melchor F Dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela on Sep 17 and 19, 2018.
The relief assistance for the victims of Typhoon Ompong in Northern Luzon comprised of 1,700 sacks of rice and 3,000 bags of grocery items and were transported in two separate date by Military trucks coming from Headquarters, Philippine Army. The relief goods were repack and each pack consists of eight pieces canned goods, five pieces instant noodles and a pack of biscuit including 10 kilos of rice.
As of Sep 19, the Command has already delivered 2,861 packs of relief goods to the Province of Isabela, and around 4,200 packs are about to be transported to Cagayan Province while another 2,500 packs is set to be delivered in Baguio City.
Mayor Sara Duterte of Davao City during her coordination with MGen Perfecto M Rimando Jr, Commander, 5ID said that the relief aid came from the people of Davao. “We are requesting the Philippine Army and your Command to assist us to deliver these aid from Davao City to our brothers and sisters in Northern Luzon. This is our way of saying thank you to the People of Northern Luzon, when they extended help to the Davaoeños during the same calamity in the past in our areas.”
