Nananawagan si Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles sa Kongreso na agad ipasa ang National Land Use bill para maiwasan ang unregulated at unrestricted land conversion.
Ayon kay Nograles, layunin ng panukalang batas na protektahan ang agricultural lands para sa food security at sufficiency.
“When we talk about food production, food availability, food price stability, and helping small farmers, land is important,” ani Nograles.
Dagdag pa ni Nograles, kapag hindi nababantayan ang conversion ng agricultural lands, makaaapekto ito sa agricultural sector lalo sa pagtiyak ng supply ng pagkain sa bansa.
“A National Land Use law can ensure that agricultural lands are not converted, as it will allow us to identify land that will be used for agricultural purposes,” sabi ni Nograles.
Ang National Land Use ay kabilang sa mga priority bills na inendroso ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa kaniyang State of the Nation Address (SONA) nitong Hulyo.
