Manila, Philippines – Magkakaroon ng Assumption of Command ceremony mamaya sa bagong talagang Philippine Coast Guard Commandant sa katauhan ni Commodore Elson Hermogino kung saan dadaluhan ito ni DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade.
Maliban kay Hermogino na tumaas ang ranggo naging Rear Admiral tatlo pang opisyal ng PCG ang na-promote na sina Rear Admiral Joel Garcia,Rolando Legaspi at Leopoldo Laroya.
Si Commodore Hermogino ay magiging Rear Admiral na mamaya sa gagawing turn over ceremony na nagsimula ang kanyang military career noong 1981 nang pumasok siya sa Philippine Military Academy at nagtapos na ipinagmalaki na miyembro ng kinikilalang “Sandiwa” Class of 1985.
Nagtapos si Hermogino sa World Maritime University sa Malmo, Sweden at kumuha ng Master in Maritime Administration noong taong 1996.
Bago itinalaga ng pangulo bilang Commandant, Commodore si Hermogino ay naging Station Commander ng ibat ibang PCG stations at naging Commander of Coast Guard districts sa Bicol Region , Northern Mindanao at Southern Tagalog sa Batangas at hinahawan niya ang mga major units ng PCG gaya ng MEPCOM, Coast Guard Fleet, at Maritime Safety Services Command.
Umani rin ng iba’t ibang parangal gaya ng Coast Guard Legion of Honor and Ribbon (Degree of Maginoo), Coast Guard Outstanding Achievement Medal and Ribbon, Coast Guard Distinguished Service Medal Medal and Ribbon, Coast Guard Gawad sa Kaunlaran Medal, Coast Guard Merit Medal, Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Coast Guard Search and Rescue Medal, Long Service Medal, Coast Guard Visayan Campaign Medal & Ribbon, and Coast Guard Civic Action Medal.
