Inihayag nina Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles at Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III na may nahanap nang pondo ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) para sa repatriation ng mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Dahil dito ay hindi na kailangang galawin ang pondo ng Overseas Workers and Welfare Administration o OWWA para sa repatriation ng mga Pilipino sa abroad.
Sinabi ito nina Nograles at Bello sa pagdinig ng Senado ukol sa panukalang pagtatag ng Department of Overseas Filipinos.
“The DBM is already looking for the necessary funds for the repatriation and no longer we will be touching the OWWA funds,” pahayag ni Nograles.
“In our last IATF meeting the DBM clearly stated that they recommended to the President the budgetary allocation for repatriation of the amount of 5.2 billion as additional repatriation expense,” ani Bello.
