Pinayagan na lumahok si Senator Leila de Lima sa mga paglilitis sa Senado alinsunod sa Resolution No. 51 na inihain nila Minority Leader Franklin Drilon at Senator Panfilo Lacson.
Ayon sa statement na inilabas ni De Lima mula sa PNP- Custodial Center sa Camp Crame, ipinahayag niya ang kagalakan sa naging desisyon.
“Great news! Answered prayers. I’ve been longing to be given such privilege so I can more meaningfully fulfill my mandate,” ani De Lima.
“I thank, wholeheartedly, the Minority Leader Sen. Drilon and Sen. Lacson fr such initiative,” dagdag niya.
Sa ilalim ng resolusyon, makakalahok si De Lima sa mga plenary debate at committee hearing sa pamamagitan ng teleconferencing o anumang paraan ng electronic communication.
“Even as a detention prisoner, Senator De Lima remains entitled to enjoy her constitutional rights such as the rights such as the right to be presumed innocent, as well as her full civil and political rights,” nakasaad dito.
Ang resolusyon ay isinangguni na sa Committee on Rules para sa kaukulang aksyon.
Inaresto si De Lima, kilalang kritiko ni Duterte, dahil sa drug charges noong Pebrero 27, 2017.
