December 8 —special non-working holiday

Gin-aprubahan sang House of Representatives sa third and final reading ang House Bill 5241 nga nagadeklara sa December 8 sang kada tuig bilang special non-working holiday sa bilog nga pungsod bilang pagselebrar sang Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary.

“December 8 was declared a holy day of obligation by Pope Clement XI in 1708 for Catholics all over the world, in honor of the holiness and purity of the Blessed Virgin Mary,” ang pahayag ni Fariñas sa explanatory note sang bill.

Sa idalum sang House Bill 5241, ang December 8 sang tagsa ka tuig mangin non-working holiday sa bilog nga pungsod agud hatagan ligwa ang mga deboto sa pag-commemorate sang Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary.


Ini nga House Bill ang gin-author ni Majority Leader kag Ilocos Congressman Rodolfo Fariñas.

“Hence, the Church requires public devotion and veneration of the faithful during the Feast of the Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In fact, in some countries such as Guam and Malta, Catholics take the day off from work and school to observe said feast.”
