Tiniyak ng Department of Education (DepEd) na tumpak ang national enrollment data mula sa basic education level sa private at public schools para sa School Year (SY) 2020-2021.
Ayon kay Education Undersecretary for Planning Jesus Mateo, ang mga datos ay nanggagaling na mismo mula sa regional offices at school division offices sa buong bansa.
“This is accurate because this came from our field offices,” sabi ni Mateo.
Bago ito, nanawagan ang Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA) sa DepEd na linawin ang enrollment data, partikular ang datos ng mga estudyanteng lumipat mula private patungong public schools.
Sa datos ng DepEd, nasa 400,000 students ang lumipat patungong pampublikong eskwelahan, na para kay COCOPEA Managing Director Atty. Joseph Noel Estrada ay malaking bilang.
“This is already 20 percent of the current enrollment in the private schools, and that’s huge considering that enrollment is down by 50 percent,” ani Estrada.
Sa ngayon, aabot na sa 22.46 million students ang nag-enroll sa public schools sa buong bansa, 99.50% ng enrollment noong nakaraang school year na nasa 22.5 million.
