Mariing pinabulaanan ng Department of Health (DOH) ang mga alegasyong bumibili sila ng expired na gamot.
Ayon kay Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, may mga batas at polisiya na nagbabawal dito.
“We have protocols and there are specific agencies of government and we have different laws that would say that we cannot buy near-expiring,” ani Vergeire.
Batay sa mga kasalukuyang polisiya, maaari lamang silang bumili ng gamot na may shelf life na 18 hanggang 24 buwan.
“We also have policies issued that when we have a public health emergency we can be able to procure said medications, drugs or supply which has a shelf life of 12 months because our country really needs it,” sabi ni Vergeire.
Una nang sinabi ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III na hinihintay nila ang mga dokumento mula kay Senator Manny Pacquiao para maayos nilang masagot ang mga alegasyon.
