ECC grants PWRD a milk tea business

Davao City – True to its mandate to restore the economic viability of every persons with work-related disability (PWRD), the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) awarded a livelihood grant to an employee of Franklin Baker Company of the Philippines in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur on September 6, 2021 .

On December 27, 2019, Jed Abril, a supervisor of the said company, received a ₱20,000.00 worth of starter kit for his milk tea business after his left hand got fractured due to a vehicular mishap that transpired.

“Wala ko nagtuo nga ang akong pagbyahe para maniudto muresulta sa pagkadisgrasya ug makaapekto sa akong pagpanginabuhi,” (I never expected my travel just to take my lunch would result to an accident which in turn greatly affected my employment),” Abril remarked during the turnover of the starter kit.


After being declared to be partially disabled, he was able to receive EC disability benefits, ₱10,000.00 EC cash assistance, and free livelihood training.

“ECC has opened to me another window of opportunity through its Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program. This starter kit for my milk tea business symbolizes a brighter tomorrow for my family amidst my disability,” Abril added.
