“The Senators led by the SP had a frank and productive exchange of views with the economic managers on the tax measure. Topics discussed included the proposed taxes on petroleum, sweet beverages, and ways to cushion the impact for the poor. We agreed to meet again with perhaps more senators present. SP senators Legarda, Binay, Villar, and Zubiri and myself were there, as well as secretaries Dominguez, Diokno and Pernia, USEC. Chua and other officials and staff.”
