Sa nagpadayung preliminary investigation sa impeachment complaint kontra kang embattled Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, nilugwa ang ikaduhang isyu: Right to cross-examine sa gi-kwestion nga opisyal sa labing hataas nga hukmanan.
Gitin-aw ni House Rules Committee chair Rodolfo Fariñas nga walay kapasikaran ang alegasyon sa mga minority solons nga angayang tugtan ang hefe-mahistrado sa High Court nga i-cross examine ang nagreklamo kontra kang Sereno.
“We are not in trial yet, we have allowed the Chief Justice to explain her side yet she chose not to, bahala siya….preliminary hearing pa po ito, for all you know, baka i-disapprove namin o ng plenary,” pagpatin-aw sa beteranong magbabalaud sa Ilocos.
Una niini, hugot nga gipangayo sa chief magistrate nga pinaagi sa iyang mga abogado, tugtan siya nga maka-konprontahe sa nagreklamo kaniya.
Usab gipikhan sa hefe sa korte suprema ang complainant nga si Atty. Larry Gadon uban sa pag-ingon nga ang mga charges ‘pure fabrication.’
Adunay 27 ka mga allegations nga napasaka kontra kang Sereno kalakip ang alleged ‘misdeclaration of Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth, excessive use of judiciary funds, falsification of court resolutions, manipulation of processes in the Judicial and Bar Council and fitness to lead the judiciary.’
