Inaasahan ng nangungunang mobile wallet GCash na makabuo ng mas malakas na partnership sa law enforcement agencies makaraang magresulta ang pagsisikap nito, sa pakikipagtulungan sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), sa pagkakatimbog sa mga pinaghihinalaang fraudster na nambibiktima ng kanilang mga customer.
Masusing nakipag-ugnayan ang GCash sa NBI Cybercrime Division (NBI CCD) upang maaresto ang isang gang na umano’y nanloloko ng mga user ng digital wallet, kabilang ang dalawang Nigerians at tatlong Pinoy, sa magkahiwalay na operasyon noong nakaraang linggo.
Batay sa report, ang kanilang racket ay kinabibilangan ng pagbebenta ng scam pages, kabilang ang panggagaya ng GCash webpage upang lokohin ang mga user sa pamamagitan ng phishing para makakuha ng sensitibong data.
Ang GCash ay tumulong sa pagre-report ng mga natukoy na phishing sites, maagap na tumugon sa mga subpoena na inisyu ng korte sa pagsisiwalat ng computer data, umasiste sa mga biktima sa paghahain ng reklamo sa law enforcement authorities, at maayos na inendorse ang mga kaso ng pandaraya.

As most processes now are done digitally and electronically, safeguarding the public online requires everyone’s vigilance and cooperation to combat fraud,” wika ni Victor Lorenzo, chief ng NBI Cybercrime Division.
Aktibong nakikipag-ugnayan ang GCash sa NBI at iba pang law enforcement agencies upang higit na mapaigting ang security measures, sa pamamagitan ng tuloy-tuloy na threat at intelligence sharing. Ang mobile wallet provider ay gumagamit ng up-to-date security technologies at global best practices para masiguro ang ligtas na transaksiyon para sa mga customer.
Pinag-iingat nito ang mga customer laban sa phishing messages na ipinadadala via SMS, email o social media na ginagaya ang official platforms para makakuha ng mga sensitibong impormasyon tulad ng MPINs at one-time passwords (OTPs).
“We urge our customers to be vigilant of phishing messages or suspicious calls meant to dupe them into giving away sensitive data about their GCash accounts. We will never ask for your MPIN or OTP, nor will we ask you to share it with anyone,” pahayag ni GCash Chief Corporate Communications Officer Chito Maniago.
