The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) conferred awards on various government agencies and their representatives for their support to its mandate of securing the future of government workers and protecting public assets. The awarding was conducted last November 29 at the GSIS headquarters in Pasay City.
GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso conferred the GSIS Seal of Protection to 10 local government units who have prioritized the protection of their assets against unforeseen challenges by insuring their properties with GSIS. Awarded with the GSIS Seal of Protection are the city governments of Makati and Pasig (Gold); Valenzuela, Navotas, San Juan, Pasay, Parañaque, and Quezon City (Silver); and Manila and Muntinlupa (Bronze).
The GSIS also recognized 10 top performing government agencies for ensuring the prompt and accurate premium and loan remittances to the GSIS. The top performing agencies are: the Light Rail Transit Authority, Naic Medicare Hospital, Home Development Mutual Fund Main and NCR East Offices, Department of Education-Division of Pasig , Presidential Broadcast Staff – Radio Television Malacañang, Maligaya High School, House of Representatives, Social Security System, and Land Registration Authority.
Also recognized by GSIS were 29 Agency Authorized Officers (AAOs), and 12 Electronic Remittance File (ERF) Handlers who supported its achievement of a 98% collection efficiency on premiums and loans. AAOs are the official representatives of government agencies who approve loans and serve as partners of the GSIS in the timely submission of updated information of their agency and employees. ERF Handlers are responsible for the deduction of premium and loan payments from the salaries of employees and preparation of the monthly remittance to GSIS, among others.
Of the 29 AAOs, nine are from the Department of Education; six from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas; three from the House of Representatives; and 11 are from different government offices. The 10 ERF handlers came from three government-owned and -controlled corporations, three schools, and four other agencies.
During the same event, the GSIS awarded certificates of appreciation to the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Clark Development Corporation, Department of Education, Department of Interior and Local Government, and Commission on Audit for their support to the various programs of the pension fund for its members and pensioners.
