Inanunsyo ng Malacañang na inilagay ang Iloilo City sa Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) mula September 25 hanggang October 9, 2020.
Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, inaprubahan ng Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) ang pagbabalik ng lungsod sa mas mataas na community quarantine.
Bago ito, sinabi ni Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas na inirekomenda nilang itaas sa MECQ ang lungsod dahil tumataas muli ang kaso ng COVID-19.
Ang kanilang rekomendasyon ay nakakuha ng suporta kay IATF Vice Chairperson Interior Secretary Eduardo Año at National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chairperson Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
“The cases in the city continue to shoot up and we need your cooperation to help eliminate the virus. We need to act fast to protect the lives of Ilonggos,” sabi ng alkalde.
Sa pinakahuling COVID-19 tracker, ang Iloilo City ay nakapagtala ng 2,136 COVID-19 cases, 1,467 ang gumaling habang 31 ang namatay.
