Nagdadalamhati ngayon ang buong Philippine General Hospital (PGH) at University of the Philippines College of Nursing sa biglang pagpanaw ng isang frontliner na humaharap sa coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Kinumpirma ng unibersidad na binawian ng buhay ang head nurse na namamahala sa COVID-19 ward sa PGH na si Faye Marie Luna Palafox noong Biyernes, Abril 17.
“During her last seven days in PGH, she performed the role of safety officer in charge of ensuring the complete and correct donning of personal protective equipment of nurses before these nurses enter their unit,” ayon sa UP College of Nursing.
“While we mourn her passing, we continue to celebrate her life characterized by unwavering dedication and commitment to serve the Filipino people beyond the call of duty,” dagdag pa ng pamantasan.
Nagtapos si Palafox noong 1995 at nanilbihan muna bilang staff nurse sa PGH hanggang sa ma-promote na head nurse ng 5RCB1.
Hindi tinukoy sa post ang dahilan ng pagkamatay ng 46-anyos na nurse.
Sa isang hiwalay na Facebook post, sinabi ng pamangking si Ericka na wala pang linaw kung dinapuan ang yumaong health worker ng COVID-19 dahil hindi pa nila natatanggap ang resulta ng isinagawang swab test dito.
“While it is true that Mama Faye served at the COVID-19 ward of PGH, we have yet to receive the swab results, as of this writing. For whatever the result will be, we ask for everyone’s understanding and respect in our family’s privacy,” pahayag ng dalaga.
Labis naman ang pasasalamat ng naulilang sa lahat ng mga nakiramay at nagbigay ng suporta sa kanila lalo na ng mga kaibigan at kasamahan nito sa industriya.
