BACOLOD CITY – Local broadcaster Marie Grace Supe of RMN-DYHB has survived malignant cancer in the ovary wherein her devotion to St. Therese of the Child Jesus have helped her and her doctors, nurses and other people to bring her the needed cure in her once troubled physical body.
She was among those who welcomed the pilgrim relics of St. Therese at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Talisay City and San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City.
Supe said her devotion started with her news coverage of the relics of St. Therese when she was still with DyAF Radyo Veritas.
She was later diagnosed with malignant cancer.
She decided to get her medication even if she lacks the financial resources.
“I gathered all my strength and prayed a lot. When I was already at the operating table, I saw the image of St. Therese in one of the operating lights that assuaged my fears of the operating knife. I vividly saw her image and was grateful that she was there for me. It has strengthened me and gave me the courage to surrender everything to my doctor and the nurses attending me. St. Therese made things easier for me because my doctor, Norma Dy, gave all her medical support and assistance to me despite the fact that this kind of operation will cost me much,” she said.
Her cousin also helped her because that time, there was a huge amount of money, P52,000, that was deposited to her by an unknown depositor which she cannot even locate.
It was a miracle that she had that money and it helped her hospital expenses.
“St. Therese has made things and situations easier for me. I hold on to my faith to her because of her unexpected presence during the time when I was about to be operated on by my doctor,” Supe said.
She added that she will continue to deepen her devotion to St. Therese because she was there during the time when she was very helpless.
Meanwhile, the pilgrim relics arrived in the province on April 9 where it stayed overnight at the Cathedral of St. Francis Xavier in Kabankalan City.
It left Kabankalan on April 11, and then passed through Himamaylan, Binalbagan, Isabela and La Castellana, where it was fetched by the Diocese of San Carlos.
The reliquary was then transferred to Sagay City, passing through Calatrava, Toboso, and Escalante.
Before it arrived in Bacolod Friday, it passed Cadiz City and Victorias City.
It also went to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Talisay City, then to San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City where a welcome mass was held.
