Manila, Philippines – Pasado na sa House Committee on Ways and Means ang panukalang batas na magbibigay ng 20% discount sa travel tax na ipinapataw sa mga senior citizens at persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Ito ay ang proposed expanded travel tax exemption act.
Ayon kay panel Chairperson, Nueva Ecija Representative Estrellita Suansing – palalawakin ng panukala ang coverage ng exemption sa pagbabayad ng travel tax.
Aniya, substitute bill ito sa House Bills 3518 at 3557 na principally authored nina Laguna Representative Arlene Arcillas at Baguio Representative Mark Go, co-authored ni Ako Bicol Party-List Representative Rodel Batocabe.
Sa ngayon, ang gobyerno ay nagpapataw ng travel tax sa ilalim ng presidential decree 1183 – sa first class passage ay nasa ₱2,700 para sa full rate, ₱1,350 para sa standard reduced rate at ₱400 para sa privileged reduced rate para sa dependents ng OFW.
Sa economy class passage ay nasa ₱1,620 kung full rate, ₱810 kapag standard reduced rate at ₱300 sa privileged reduced rate para sa dependents ng OFW.
