Mayor requests BCDA-JHMC to open John Hay for seniors, kids every Sunday

Baguio, Philippines – Mayor Benjie Magalong requested Bases Conversion Development Authority-John Hay Management Corporation to open leisure spots at Camp John Hay every Sunday specifically for senior citizens and children subject to established health and safety protocols against Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The mayor said the BCDA-JHMC officials expressed reception to the idea and laid down initial plans.

Areas mulled for play and recreation are Ayala ground, back of Le Monet Hotel, Yellow trail, and Eco- trail. The Scout Hill children’s park is also being considered as it is near residences.

The management will give special attention to security measures that have to be defined in relation to health protocols, gate openings, and other concerns.

These will all be discussed in detail along with other related guidelines to ensure safety against COVID-19. Guidelines will be drafted and presented to the JHMC Board for approval during their meeting on June 29.

The mayor said he respects the independence of the Economic Zone where CJH is a part and he is confident that the welfare and well-being of Baguio residents is also in the priorities of the BCDA-JHMC.

He said he leaves the decision to the BCDA-JHMC to craft their guidelines as they are still in the best position to identify and define what measures are needed to safeguard the elderly and children considering that Sunday is the only day they are allowed to go out in view of the quarantine.
