Matapos ang ilang buwan na paghahanap kung sino ang susunod na magiging iconic pinay superhero, ipinakilala na sa publiko ang 20 taong gulang na aktres na si Jane de Leon.
Una na ngang winithdraw ni Liza Soberano ang role bilang Darna dahil sa finger injury nito na sumailalim siya sa tatlong operasyon.
Si Jane ay gumanap na Maggie sa ‘Halik’ na kapatid ni Lino sa serye. Isa rin siya sa ‘Girltrends’ o girl group ng network.
Binati naman nina Liza Soberano, Angel Locsin, Ogie Diaz at iba pang artista si Jane sa social media.
Ayon naman kay Direk Joey Javier Reyes, “Congratulations to the NEW DARNA: Jane de Leon! A hard working and talented young lady who deserves this biggest break. All the best to you.”

Samantala, umani ng iba’t ibang reaksyon mula sa mga netizen ang pagpili ng ABS-CBN management kay Jane.
Ayon kay Ronald Gem, “To be fair, ang ganda ng bagong Darna ha. She can look innocent as Narda and fierce as Darna. Congratulations, Jane De Leon!”
It was not meant for Liza, nor for Nadine. It was not meant for the other 299 girls who auditioned, but it does not make them undeserving. It's just destiny making way for Jane de Leon, at least for this #Darna project. Kudos. Girl power!
