Nanawagan si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa mga bansa na talikuran na ang giyera.
Ito ang mensahe ng Pangulo kasabay ng paggunita sa ika-75 taong anibersaryo ng pambobomba sa Hiroshima at Nagasaki sa Japan.
Sa kaniyang video message, sinabi ni Pangulong Duterte na ang lahat ng bansa ay magtulungan at huwag nang gumamit ng nuclear weapons.
“Seventy-five years ago, the world learned that the full power of nuclear weapons was finally unleashed on the people of Hiroshima. That defining moment in history documented and revealed in great detail came with a grim suffering, crippling pain, and horrific tales. Today, we remember the lessons of Hiroshima and Nagasaki: No goals, however lofty, can justify weapons that destroy with such unforgiving brutality,” sabi ng Pangulo.
Hinimok din ng Pangulo ang lahat na magsama-sama tungo sa kapayapaan.
Nagpaalala rin si Pangulong Duterte sa mga bansa na magtayo at hindi magwasak.
Binanggit din ng Pangulo ang tumitibay na relasyon ng Pilipinas sa Japan lalo na sa pagsusulong kapayapaan at kaunlaran.
“With our meaningful shared history, the Philippines and Japan have continued to do our utmost to fortify the foundations of peace, propel the course of progress and give full meaning to the promise of prosperity,” ani Pangulong Duterte.
Si Pangulong Duterte ay kabilang sa mga world leader na nagbigay ng mensahe sa 2020 Peace Memorial Ceremony.
