Manila, Philippines – Pasado na sa House Committee on Ways and Means ang substitute bill na layong gawing mandatory ang 20% student fare discount sa mga pampublikong transportation.
Ayon kay Nueva Ecija Representative Estrellita Suansing – pinagtibay ng kanilang komite ang Proposed Student Fare Discount Act na makatutulong sa mga estudyante at operators.
Ang substitute bill, ay ‘unanimously approved’ ng House Committee on Transportation nitong Disyembre ng nakaraang taon.
Sa ilalim ng panukala – magagamit ng isang naka-enroll na mag-aaral ang pribilehiyo nito na diskwento sa pamasahe maging sa weekend at holiday.
Hindi naman sakop ng panukala ang mga estudyanteng naka-enroll sa postgraduate degree courses at informal short term courses.
Maaring maghain ng reklamo ang estudyante na hindi nabigyan ng fare discount sa:
– Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) kapag land public transport utilities tulad ng jeep, bus, UV express o taxi.
– Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) kapag sea o water transport.
– Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) kung air public transportation facilities
– Department of transportation (DOTr) para sa rail transportation gaya ng LRT, MRT o PNR
– Office of the Local Chief Executive ng Local Government Unit (LGU) kung tricycle
Nakasaad din sa panukala na ang LTFRB, MARINA, CAB at DOTr, ang bubuo ng Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) nito.
