PCSO Turns Over P138.4-Million Mandatory Contribution to CHED

Mandaluyong City, July 21, 2025 — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) turned over a check amounting to ₱138,447,383.10 to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), fulfilling its mandatory contribution for the period January to June 2025 as mandated by law.

The ceremonial turnover was led by PCSO General Manager Melquiades A. Robles at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City, with CHED Director Aline Magalong receiving the check on behalf of the Commission.
This contribution is in compliance with Republic Act No. 7722, also known as the Higher Education Act of 1994, which established CHED and requires PCSO to remit a portion of its gross lotto sales to support the development of higher education in the country.

Under the law, the contributions provided by PCSO to CHED help fund its programs aimed at enhancing access to quality tertiary education. The contribution supports scholarships, faculty development, research initiatives, and other academic programs that promote excellence and inclusivity in the higher education sector.

GM Robles reaffirmed PCSO’s commitment to national development through its financial support to key government institutions. “Beyond our core mission of raising funds for health and welfare services, PCSO remains steadfast in fulfilling its legal obligations to partners such as CHED whose work directly empowers our youth and shapes the nation’s future,” he said.

The PCSO continues to fulfill its mandate not only by providing direct assistance to individuals and communities but also by contributing to long-term investments in education, health, and nation-building.
