Mahalagang maghanda ang Pilipinas sa ‘worst-case scenario’ laban sa posibleng pagkalat ng mas nakakahawang Delta variant.
Ayon kay Dr. Gene Nisperos ng University of the Philippines (UP) College of Medicine, hindi sapat ang testing at surveillance ng Delta variant cases sa bansa.
Kailangan ipagpalagay na may mga kasong hindi pa nade-detect.
“Even when they say we have eight cases right now, we need to assume that there’s more out there that we haven’t detected yet, mainly because we aren’t testing enough, and that itself is alarming,” sabi ni Nisperos sa interview ng ANC.
“I understand that there are very strict criteria to say that the community transmission is happening, but I cannot assume, if we want to err on the safe side, then we have to prepare for the worst-case scenario,” dagdag pa ni Dr. Nisperos.
Kaya panawagan ni Nisperos sa pamahalaan na itaas ang kakayahan sa testing at contact tracing.
Hindi na dapat maulit ang huling surge kung saan maraming tao ang namamatay sa labas ng mga ospital.
Sa ngayon, nasa walo ang aktibong kaso ng Delta variant sa bansa.
