Philippine Red Cross now has state of the art training mannequins, provides real life simulation to trainees

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is now equipped with five (5) state-of-the-art training mannequins to ensure its Emergency Medical Services training program is up to par with international standards. PRC says that these training “robots” will provide real life simulation experience to individuals training as Emergency Medical Responders (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). It will also provide critical life-saving knowledge for its personnel for Ambulance Operation Management and Mass Casualty Incident management.

“The public should know that the Red Cross is always striving for innovation, and we push to excel in any service we provide. These state-of-the-art training robots will ensure that the training we give will help people save more lives, and that is what is important to us, saving lives,” said PRC Chairman Richard Gordon.

“We really want to build a culture of safety among Filipinos by having one trained first aider in every household,” Gordon added.

PRC’s high-tech training mannequins are capable of highly developed instructions and simulations of realistic and correct anatomical and physiological conditions during cardiopulmonary resuscitation by means of rescue breathing and chest compression. Equipped with a mechanical monitoring instrument showing effectiveness of the resuscitation, PRC’s training “robots” have lifelike anatomy making it suitable for training of correct placement of defibrillation pads in training use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED).

The acquisition of the five mannequins is just the beginning. PRC plans to have five more to add to their high-tech training assets to serve more chapters nationwide. Currently, these training robots are used in training at the PRC National Headquarters.
