Inendorso ng National Unity Party (NUP), isa sa pinakamalaking partido sa Kongreso, si dating senador at presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“We wish to announce that the National Unity Party (NUP) has decided to endorse the Presidential bid of former Senator Bongbong Marcos,” ayon sa statement na ibinahagi ni NUP Deputy Secretary General at spokesman Reggie Velasco.
Inilabas ang nasabing endorsement statement matapos dumalo ni Marcos sa pagpupulong ng NUP noong March 23 nang gabi.
Pinaniniwalaang may basbas ng bilyonaryong si Enrique K. Razon, na kilalang supporter ng NUP, ang pag-endorso kay Marcos bilang “presidential choice” ng partido.
Ayon pa kay Velasco, ang plataporma ni Marcos, Jr. para sa pagkakaisa ay nakahanay sa pananaw ng NUP na “one nation, one future” na diskarte sa pamumuno.
“BBM’s call for unity as the basic strategy for economic recovery, amidst the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and global uncertainties, is consistent and supportive of the NUP’s primary vision of ‘one nation, one future’ as enshrined in the party constitution”, saad ng NUP patungkol sa nalalapit na May 9 elections.
“We call upon all our party members to join hands with former Senator Marcos in bringing our country and people to continued prosperity and progress,” dagdag pa rito.
Ikinagalak naman ng kampo ni Marcos Jr. ang endorsement mula sa NUP.
Inamin ni Atty. Vic Rodriguez na ang NUP endorsement ay “substantive contribution” sa pangkalahatang campaign strategy ng UniTeam ni Marcos Jr. at ng katambal nito na si Mayor Inday Sara Duterte.
Nauna ring inihayag ng Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban (PDP-Laban) na siyang partido naman ni Pangulong Rodrigo R. Duterte ang desisyon nitong suportahan si Marcos Jr.
