SAP recipients who spend money on vices warned

Baguio, Philippines – Mayor Benjamin Magalong earned  beneficiaries of the government’s Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of facing charges if found to be spending their P5,500 in unecessary expenses.Earlier, reports have reached the mayor that there are some SAP beneficiaries in the city’s barangays who had been allegedly using part of the financial assistance for unnecessary expenses like liquor.He pointed out that the financial assistance given by the government should be used for the basic needs of their families being the primary purpose of the program.”Why spend the aid meant for the subsistence of your family for liquor.  And to think that we have an ongoing liquor ban in the city,” the mayor said.Those caught will be charged with violation of Republic Act No. 11469 or Bayanihan to Heal as One Act. – DAS/APR
