A senior citizen from Rizal won P12,725,157.60 in the Lotto 6/42 drawn last July 20, 2024, after correctly guessing the winning combination 27-23-17-41-15-29.
The winning bettor has played lotto since its launch in 1995, but said she only plays occasionally or whenever she has extra money. “Hindi naman po ganung kaayos ang pamumuhay namin kaya ako’y nagbabasakaling mananalo [sa lotto]. Inabot na ako ng ganitong edad pero di ako nawalan ng pag-asa,” she said.
The winner, a housewife who has relied on her family for financial support for most of her life, plans to secure an insurance plan and save a portion of her winnings for the future.
To claim lotto prizes, winners must sign the back of the winning ticket and provide two valid government IDs for verification. Additionally, they must comply with the 20% tax on prizes exceeding ₱10,000.00 under the TRAIN Law.
As per RA 1169, winners have one (1) year from the draw date to claim their prize at the PCSO Main Office at Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City.
