Davao City – Padayon sa pakigkumbate karon ang health sector sa syudad sa Davao kontra sa ‘stigma’ kun diskriminasayon ngadto sa mga tawong nataptan sa Human Immuno-Deficiency Virus (HIV-AIDS).
Sa pakighinabi kaniya sa RMN Davao primetime morning radio social commentary program nga ‘Straight to the Point,’ gibutyag ni Reproductive Health & Wellness Center – City Health Office (RHWC-CHO) head Dr. Jordana Ramiterre nga dinhi angay manukad ang anti-HIV AIDS drive.
“Stigma may not be in the population itself but the person him / herself kasi ‘pag sinabing HIV, it’s associated with sexual transmission –sex related, and that’s already stigmatizing or discriminating,” segun sa hepe.
Matud ni Ramiterre, as of June 2017 niabot na sa 2,080 ka mga tawo ang natala nga nagpositibo sa HIV-AIDS sugod pa niadtong 1993 diin sagad anaa sa age bracket nga 25-35 kun ‘reproductive age group’ o ‘biologically sexually active’ ang apektado.
Gisaysay sa head physician nga ang labing dakung risgo nga sektor mao ang mga lalake nga nakighilawas sa parehong lalaki kun ‘Men Having Sex with Men (MSM) apan pwede usab ang heterosexual relationship.
“Either purely homosexual, heterosexual or bisexual aside from the mother-child transmission,” pagpaklaro sa Wellness chief.
Base sa surveys ug interviews nga gibuhat sa RHWC-CHO, nitaas ang awareness sa katawhan mahitungod sa ‘prevention’ ug ang kahibalo kung diin pwede magpa-test ingon man availability sa treatment sa maong balatian.
“But we still need to do more in the promotion of the services that we have, kasi lahat naman nun ay andidito in different places already like sa public health or promoting prevention-education, promoting free testing sa clinic,” dugang ni Ramiterre.
Samtang giawhag ni Ramiterre ang media sector nga motabang sa pag-promotar sa ‘prevention-education ug testing services’ sa health sectors.
