Davao City – For me, it is not the manner of burial that is important: Traditional interment or cremation is a personal choice of each and every one of us on the basis of one’s cultural or religious belief.
Mahinungdanon nga atong tahuron ug respetohon ang gituhoan ug gibarugan sa matag usa ug likayang ipamugos kun unsay atong buot nga mabuhat or mahitabo.
Respect for our freedom of religious beliefs and cultural persuasion is our own choice provided that they do not infringe on similar rights of others who happen to disagree with our own especially-held and long-cherished convictions.
Ako nagtoo nga mahidangat gayud ang ensaktong panahon diin madawat na sa katawhan ang practice kun sistemang cremation diha sa paghikutar sa patay’ng lawas sa atong mga minahal sa kinabuhi or bisan sa atong kaugalingong kapahulayan.
Kana gumikan sa modernong realisasyon nga naghuot na gayud ang mga lugar kun espasyong kalubngan sa tawo, ang padayong pagsaka sa balor kun gasto sa pagpalubong ug bisan pa ang aspetong medikal diin gikonsidera ang pag-cremate nga mas sanitary, mas hygienic ug mas luwas nga klase sa cadaver disposal.
More than just the physical resting place and condition, the more important question should be if we are assured that when that moment comes, are we ready and are we assured of an eternal repose in the arms of God and not elsewhere?
More than just the manner of burial, is our soul already ransomed by the saving grace of Christ who has conquered death and whose death and resurrection marked a turning point in the future of our spiritual lives?
If not, then it is not too late yet to come to the feet of our Master, seek His forgiveness, truly and meaningfully accept His Lordship and Mastership of our mundane lives. In doing so, no amount of physical death can cause us to be fearful; instead that appointment with the end of all human lives will simply mean the start of a beautiful and eternal journey with our God.
