Celebrity chef Gene Gonzalez to offer cooking demo, culinary scholarship Vice President Leni Robredo is set to visit the town of Mulanay in Quezon Province on Wednesday, February 28, to lead the turnover of materials that will help two high schools there comply further with the government’s K-12 program.
VP Leni will be at Bagupaye National High School, which will receive, along with Pakiing National High School, cooking tools from Ramesh Trading, through the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (FICCI)—in response to their need for such materials for their Grade 11 and Grade 12 students.
Ramesh Trading, represented by its president and CEO Haresh Mirchandani, is also bringing its partner chef, Gene Gonzalez, to conduct a cooking lecture and demonstration. Gonzalez, founder of the Center for Asian Culinary Studies (CACS), will teach the students the process of proper knife honing, as well as different vegetable cuts and the cutting, boning, and portioning of chicken and fish.
They will also offer a fully-paid, 15-week culinary program to the most deserving students from the beneficiary schools, under their CACS-Masflex Scholarship. The Vice President will also be visiting Bondoc Peninsula Agricultural High School (BPAHS), where a group of individual donors bought science tools, as requested by the school for its newly renovated laboratory—aimed at eventually making the institution qualified to offer the Science, Technology, and Math (STEM) track for junior and senior high school.
Mulanay, a town about seven hours away from Manila, is one of more than 170 areas around the country that the OVP is assisting under its Angat Buhay program.
Through the office’s Bridging Leadership Program, the municipality’s local government identified education as its priority advocacy concern.
