2 cops hurt in clash with ASG in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY– Two policemen who were injured during a clash with Abu Sayyaf Group in Maimbung, Sulu last Monday were confined in a private hospital here.
Wounded were Insp. Ergie Wanawan and PO1 Ben Nusri Arah. They were admitted at the Zamboanga Peninsula Hospital in Putik.
A police report showed that Wanawan’s team figured in a skirmish with the ASG bandits around 1:30 p.m.
The exchange of gun fires lasted for several minutes injuring Wanawan and Arah.
They were taken to the nearest hospital in Sulu but on the same day they were transferred in Zampen Hospital in the city for further medication.
The management of the hospital also reported to the Divisoria Police Station the arrival of the two policemen for proper procedure. – Dan Toribio
