Umaapela si Assistant Minority Leader at ACT-Teachers Partylist Representative France Castro na suspendihin ang 5-year requirement para sa pagkuha ng licensure examination ng mga guro.
Sinabi ni Castro na simula nitong May 31 ay posibleng umabot na sa halos isang libo na mga guro sa senior high school ang mawawalan na ng trabaho dahil lumipas na ang 5 taon na timeline para sa pagkuha ng lisensya.
“There are more than 1,000 senior high school teachers who will lose their job starting May 31, 2021, due to the lapse of the 5 years’ timeline for license. These teachers were hired on probationary status since 2016 and failed to comply with the license requirement,” ani Castro.
Karamihan sa mga guro na ito ay na-hire sa ilalim ng probationary status noong 2016 at hindi agad nakapag-comply sa license requirement para maging regular at permanent ang status.
“There is still no certainty that the LEPT will push through on its scheduled September 26, 2021, due to the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” dagdag pa ni Castro.
Hindi rin aniya makapag-comply ang mga guro sa limang taong palugit sa pagkuha ng lisensya lalo ngayong apektado ang bansa ng pandemya at wala ring kasiguraduhan kung matutuloy na ang Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) sa September 26, 2021 matapos na maipagpaliban ito noong nakaraang taon.
Nakasaad sa Bayanihan 2 na maaaring ilipat ang deadlines at timelines ng paghahain at pagsusumite ng mga dokumento, bayarin sa taxes, fees at iba pang charges upang maibsan ang bigat ng mga Pilipino sa ilalim ng community quarantine.
“The Department of Education has legal basis to implement the statutory relief accorded by RA 11469 to teachers of both private and public schools to ease their burden and to hold in status quo their employment status,” sabi ng lady solon.
Dahil dito, may ligal na basehan ang Department of Education (DepEd) para ipatupad ang statutory relief para sa mga guro sa pampubliko at pribadong paaralan dahil hindi naman kasalanan ng mga teachers na maudlot ang pagkuha nila ng LEPT exam.
