Nilagdaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang Republic Act No. 11765 o Financial Products and Services Consumer Protection Act na layuning bigyan ng karagdagang proteksyon ang mga consumers laban sa fraud.
Alinsunod sa batas, mandato ng estado na tiyaking mayroong mekanismo na layuning itaguyod ang interes at common good ng mga consumers ng alinmang financial products and services at nakakatalima sa global best practices.
Kinakailangang ipatupad ng gobyerno ang ilang measures upang mapangalagaan ang mga karapatan ng financial purchaser, kabilang na dito ang;
-Right to equitable and fair treatment
-Right to disclosure and transparency of financial products and services
-Right to protection of consumer assets against fraud and misuse
-Right to data privacy and protection
-Right to timely handling and redress of complaints
Sa ilalim ng bagong batas, kinakailangang mayruong;
-Rulemaking
-Market conduct surveillance and examination
-Market monitoring
-Enforcement
-Consumer redress or complaints handling mechanism
-Adjudication
Ang mga financial regulators.
Magiging epektibo ang bagong batas, 15 araw matapos itong mailathala sa Official Gazette o sa 2 national newspapers na mayroong general circulation.
