bullet fired from .45 cal pistol, kills man, 40

ZAMBOANGA CITY — A 40-year-old man was killed while another escaped death in two separate gun attacks in Tagasilay and Labuan last Sunday.

Randi A. Pondoy, of Sitio Burlua, Mangusu, this city was shot to death by one of the gunmen around 1:50 p.m.

Pondoy sustained a bullet wound in the head and died on the spot.


A report from the Police Regional Office disclosed that Pondoy was having a drinking spree at the store owned by Elisa Alonzo Gako in Tagasilay, in the city’s east when two men riding tandem on a motorcycle appeared and the backrider suddenly drew a .45 caliber pistol and shot him in the head.

The gunmen then sped towards the direction of barangay Tigbalabag after the victim stumbled on the ground dead.

Police investigators recovered a spent shell of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Meanwhile, Arden Ibrahim Adani, single of Purok 2, barangay Labuan, in the city’s west appeared at the Labuan Police Station and filed a complaint against a certain Ramilliano of the same place who allegedly shot him but missed.

Adani told the police that he was at Purok 3, in the said barangay around 11:30 p.m. when Ramilliano who was armed with a handgun appeared and shot him without any ado.

Luckily Adani was not hit and escaped unhurt.
