Man removed from plane after passengers got sick due to his ‘unbearable’ odor

A Transavia Airlines plane en route to Gran Canaria, Spain, had to make an emergency landing after a male passenger’s body odor caused others to vomit and faint.
According to reports <www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/plane-forced-make-emergency-landing-12627517>, Transavia Boeing 737 flight took off from Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam, and had to make an unexpected detour when travellers became distressed and couldn’t handle the smell of a man who reeks of several weeks without bathing.
One of the passengers aboard the plane Piet van Haut, described the smell of the man as “unbearable.” He said: “It was like he hadn’t washed himself for several weeks. Several passengers got sick and had to puke.”
Flight crew on board reportedly even tried to quarantine the man in the plane’s restroom before the pilots decided to divert the flight and land on Faro, Portugal so he could be removed from the plane. A passenger captured a photo showing the man being escorted from the airplane to the bus.
The airline confirmed that “medical reasons” caused the emergency landing. “The aeroplane diverted because of medical reasons, but it is indeed right that he smelled quite a bit,” a Transavia spokesman said. It’s unsure if the medical reasons were pertaining to the foul-odored man or the passengers who got ill due to the stench.
Another Transavia flight travelling from Dubai to Amsterdam also made an unexpected landing in Austria in February. An elderly passenger’s excessive farting during flight caused a fight between several passengers on board and the plane had to make a detour. Local police officers intervened to remove the offending individuals from the flight.
