Hindi sang-ayon ang fromer Binibining Pilipinas World 2007 Maggie Wilson at Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago sa mga judges sa pagkapili kay Catriona Gray sa Best in Swimsuit kaya naman dumagsa ang negative comments mula sa mga solid supporters ni Gray.
Naglabas naman ng statement si Catriona sa kanyang Instagram stories:
“Hey my loves I’ve been seeing some comments online regarding the comments of two of our beauty queens and their opinions on the best in swimsuit award in BBP2018.”
“Firstly, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, let’s not be too overly sensitive.”
“As I’ve said before debating and stating your own opinion is okay but let’s not retaliate with negativity.”
“Secondly, to those who are saying that I need to control the fans, pasensya na po, but I cannot control them or tell what to and to not say.”
“Finally, let’s just be happy!”
“I’m elated and over the moon to be our new Ms. Univese Philippines! We should be celebrating the new queens!”
