HIMAMAYLAN CITY, Negros Occidental – The City Government of Himamaylan has
lauded the Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) and its digital banking
platforms for providing meaningful support to the City’s delivery of essential public
services.

Himamaylan City Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson, Jr. cited the ease provided by
the Bank in facilitating financial transactions between the LGU and its constituents,
which began prior to the onset of the global health pandemic.

“LANDBANK’s convenient, reliable, and efficient services have unintentionally
prepared the LGU with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which posed multiple
inconveniences and limitations to the day-to-day operations of the city. Since its
partnership with LANDBANK, the city has faced less issues concerning security,
accuracy, and time management,” said Mayor Tongson.

He added that physical money transfers were no longer needed as LANDBANK
already provided online banking services, which helped limit physical and personal
interactions in accordance with health and safety protocols.

LANDBANK’s corporate internet-based banking facility, WeAccess, facilitated for the
Himamaylan LGU a total of 3,494 transactions amounting to P751.6 million from the
period of January 2022 to February 2023.

From the same period, the LGU also recorded transactions with total value of P48.9
million through the LANDBANK e-Tax Payment System (eTPS), the Bank’s digital tax
payment channel.

“The digital banking experience offered by LANDBANK has significantly supported
the operations made by the LGU. Accountant’s Advice can now be accomplished
online; bank statements are also readily available at any given time; and financial
transactions between the LGU and its clients have been expedited and made more
secure,” Mayor Tongson added.

LANDBANK is offering a menu of digital products and services to all local
governments nationwide, in support of Executive Order No. 170 or the Adoption of
Digital Payments for Government Disbursement and Collections, and Republic Act
No. 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery
Act of 2018.

"We are committed to support the digital journey of our local government partners
nationwide. We will continue to explore innovative solutions to help enhance local
public service delivery in serving the nation," said LANDBANK President and CEO
Cecilia Cayosa Borromeo.

LANDBANK and the City Government of Himamaylan have been working together to
roll-out the City’s development projects since 2006.

The Bank has previously funded the construction and development of the
Himamaylan City Hall and sanitary landfill, as well as initiatives for shoreline
embankment and protection, desilting and protection of river channels, and land
reclamation, among other development projects.
