Mariing kinondena ng Makati Medical Center (MMC) si Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III matapos lumabag sa infection and containment protocols ng ospital.
Ito ay bunsod ng pagpunta ni Pimentel sa pagamutan kahit inoobersabahan na siya para sa nakahahawang coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Sa Facebook post ng MMC nitong Miyerkoles, kinumpirma ng kanilang medical director na si Dr. Saturnino Javier ang impormasyong sinamahan ni Pimentel noong Martes ang misis na si Kathryna na manganganak sana ngayong araw.
Dahil daw pumasok ang mambabatas sa delivery room, nilabag niya ang “home quarantine rules” at inilagay sa panganib ang buhay ng mga health worker at empleyado na kaniyang nakasalamuha.
“We denounce the irresponsible and reckless action of the senator. He added to the burden of a hospital trying to respond in its most competent and aggressive manner to cope with the daunting challenges of this COVID-19 outbreak,” saad ni Javier.
“As a result, a number of our nurses and doctors may be quarantined which will further deplete the dwindling workforce of the hospital,” patuloy ng manggagamot.
Imbis pa raw na gumawa ng solusyon, mas lalong pinabigat ni Pimentel ang sitwasyon sa MMC.
Dagdag ni Javier, balewala ang payo ng senador sa publiko na maghugas ng kamay at sumunod sa enhanced community quarantine at social distancing, dahil siya raw mismo ay nilabag ito.
“More than anything else, Mr. Pimentel, should have realized the ardent desire of every well-meaning Filipino and every dedicated healthcare institution to contain the spread of the infection.”
Tiniyak naman ng pamunuan na “decontaminated” at “disinfected” na ang nasabing pasilidad.
Patuloy na sinusuri ang mga na-expose na medical staff at sasailalim raw ang mga ito sa quarantine.
“We fervently pray that none of our healthcare staff will acquire the COVID-19 infection. As we make this wish, we plead and urge everyone to do his share in quelling the spread of this infection – especially our nation’s duly elected leaders,” paalala ni Javier sa pulitiko.
Nabatid ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) na maaring arestuhin ang sinumang lalabag sa ipinatupad na enhanced community quarantine sa buong Luzon.
