Suno kay Pat Campbell, cartoonist sang Australia’s Canberra Times newspaper, iya ini nga ginahalad sa 50 ka mga napatay sa mass shooting sa Christchurch mosque.

“Initially I drew 49 figures. When the number was revised to 50, I added another silhouette,” ang pahayag ni Campbell.


“When this image was drawn on Saturday morning, the death toll was 49. Since then it has risen to 50 so I have added another figure. Below is a link to a hi-rez version for those wanting to use the image for themselves or nonprofit fundraising for victimshttp://”

Suno kay Campbell wala niya ginalauman nga mangin viral ang iya illustration.

“The response has been humbling. As you can imagine, it is a bittersweet experience,”pahayag sini.

“I thought of the fern, an important symbol of New Zealand, it’s form naturally lending itself to a representation of people. From there it was a short step to depicting the victims as they prayed.”

“Many people have told me how the image has touched them, or given them solace, or reassurance that the wider community cares,” he added. “That’s been a sad but wonderful reward.”
