Baguio, Philippines – Mayor Benjie Magalong has ordered the lockdown of four barangays in the city after one resident of Dagsian was found positive of the Coronavirus disease today.”I am ordering a lock down of Upper and Lower Dagsian, Hillside and Scout Barrio in view of this new infection. Only essential travels will be allowed,” the mayor said.He also directed concerned barangay officials of Upper Dagsian to undergo quarantine.The patient, a 46-year old female streetsweeper of Scout Barrio who lives in Dagsian barangay, is the city’s 15th positive case. Her diagnosis ended the city’s 13-day hiatus from new cases.Aggressive contact tracing is now being done to round up the patient’s contacts which include some police personnel who according to Baguio City Police Director Allen Co are now on isolation.The mayor also ordered the immediate disinfection of the patient’s residence, police station and other areas she visited. The patient was said to have first experienced symptoms on April 3 and had her check-up on April 7. She was rapid tested in April 8 and after a positive result was swab tested for PCR confirmation on April 9 which also turned out positive.As of today, a total of 154 suspected cases had undergone rapid tests. Five of them had positive results but of these five, four had negative results at the PCR confirmatory tests.With the new case, the city now has a total of 15 confirmed patients with nine recoveries and one fatality.
