Bumuo na ng task force ang National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) para tugunan ang lumalalang oil spill sa bahagi ng Oriental Mindoro.
Ito ay kasunod ng paglubog ng MT Princess Empress sa Oriental Mindoro na may kargang 800,000 metriko toneladang industrial fuel.
Inaatasan din ni Office of Civil Defense Usec. Ariel Nepomuceno ang OCD MIMAROPA para bumuo ng isang inter-agency task force na tututok sa pagtugon sa naturang oil spill.
Layon nitong magpatupad ng mga hakbang upang mapigilan ang paglawak pa ng oil spill.
Bukod dito, inaatasan din ang task force na magsagawa ng emergency response activities sa mga lugar na naapektuhan ng oil spill.
Binubuo ang task force ng OCD – MIMAROPA, Department of Energy and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at lokal na pamahalaan ng MIMAROPA region.
Matatandaang una nang napaulat na naabot na ng oil spill ang mga coastal areas ng Pola, Pinamalayan, Naujan, Bongabong at Orintal Mindoro.
