Uumpisahan na ng Kamara ngayong araw ang deliberasyon sa plenaryo ng House Bill No. 7727 o ang ₱4.506 Trillion General Appropriations Bill (GAB) para sa susunod na taon.
Ayon kay House Committee on Ways and Means Chairperson Albay Representative Joey Salceda, titiyakin ng mga mambabatas na magkakaroon ng maayos deliberasyon at maipapasa ang panukalang budget bago mag-break ang Kongreso sa October 17.
Si House Committee on Appropriations Chairperson ACT- CIS Party-list Representative Eric Yap ay nakatakdang i-sponsor ang spending measure ngayong araw.
“Eric is working hard and works well with House Majority Leader Martin (Romualdez). Upon the instruction of Speaker (Alan) Cayetano, the schedules are well-grouped and assignments are well-organized,” sabi ni Salceda.
Bagamat magiging “challenging” ang pagtalakay sa budget, umaapela si Yap sa mga kapwa kongresista na magkaroon ng koooperasyon, pagkakaisa at professionalism.
“This is the people’s budget and it is our obligation to make sure that the national budget will not only be passed on time, but ultimately, it will respond to the growing needs of our countrymen. More work needs to be done and it is my hope that the entire budget process will not be delayed by whatever issue that the Congress may face in the coming days,” ani Yap.
Sinabi naman ni House Deputy Speaker Batangas Representative Raneo Abu, handa na ang Mababang Kapulungan na ipasa ang 2021 national budget lalo na at mahalaga ito sa muling pagbangon ng ekonomiya ng bansa mula sa COVID-19 pandemic.
Umaasa naman si House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano na mapipirmahan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang panukalang budget sa unang linggo ng Disyembre.
Ang 2021 national budget ay 21.8% ay mula sa Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ng Pilipinas at 9.9% na mataas kumpara sa ₱4.1 trillion budget ngayong taon.
