Pinababago ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos ang pangalan ng Presidential Communications Operations Office at gawing Office of the Press Secretary.
Ito ang inihayag ni Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles batay na rin sa Executive Order No. 2 na nilagdaan ni Executive Sec. Vic Rodriguez noong June 30 at inilabas ngayong araw.
Batay sa EO, ang PCOO ay papalitan na ng pangalan at ire-reorganisa sa ilalim ng OPS kung saan pamumunuan ito ni Angeles.
Ang OPS ay binigyan ng kapangyarihan na magtalaga ng Assistant Secretary at hindi hihigit pa sa dalawampung personnel.
Papayagan din ang walong undersecretaries, kasama ang kanilang sariling Assistant Secretaries at Support Staff.
Kabilang dito ang:
1. Operations, Plans and Policies
2. Administration, Finance and Procurement
3. Legal Affairs
4. Media Accreditation and Relations
5. Digital Media Services
6. Print Media Services
7. Broadcast Media Services
8. Special Concerns
Para naman sa mga attached office ng PCOO, direktang hahawakan ito ng OPS tulad ng Apo Production Unit, Bureau Of Broadcast Services, Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation, National Printing Office, News and Information Bureau at the People’s Television Network.
Habang ang Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM) ay isasailalim sa Presidential Management Staff (PMS), at ang Philippine Information Agency (PIA) ay i-aabsorb ng Bureau of Communications Services, Freedom of Information-Program Management Office at Good Governance Office.
Ang PCOO ay binuo noon 2010 sa ilalim ng pamumuno ng yumaong si Pangulong Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
