Ngayon mararanasan ng mga Pinoy ang pinakamahabang araw sa taon.
Ayon sa Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, mangyayari ang aktwal na summer solstice sa ganap na alas-11:54 ng gabi.
Paliwanag ng PAGASA, “This is the time when the sun attains its greatest declination of +23.5 degrees and passes directly overhead at noon for all observers at latitude 23.5 degrees North, which is known as the Tropic of Cancer.”
Dagdag pa ng pamunuan, tatagal ang araw ng 12 oras at 59 minuto. Sumikat ang araw kaninang 5:28 ng umaga at lulubog mamayang 6:27 ng gabi.
“The summer solstice also marks the event of the apparent southward movement of the sun in the ecliptic,” sabi pa ng PAGASA.
