Philippine Red Cross Youth (RCY) launched “RCY Reconnect”, an activity-based program as part of its annual Red Cross Youth Month celebration in October 2022.
The program is designed to give emphasis to the humble beginnings of the RCY and encourage the youth from different chapters to reconnect with their fellow youth volunteers.
“The youth is the future of the country. And remember that enabling and ennobling go hand in hand with leadership,” Philippine Red Cross Chairman Richard J. Gordon said.
The program consists of the following three major events: Leadership Week 2022, RCY Excellence Awards 2022, and GOAL 13 Leadedrship Lab Program. Leadership Week 2022 will be conducted on October 17 – 21 and is designed to enhance the leadership skills of youth volunteers through activities such as providing a space for the youth to perform the duties of their staff counterpart in a given period of time.
Meanwhile, along with the celebration of the 75th year anniversary of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), the RCY will conduct the RCY Excellence Awards 2022, a recognition program that is dedicated to young people who sh owcased excellent contribution to vulnerable communities amidst the global pandemic. The last major event will be GOAL 13 Leadership Lab Program, a 2-month program that aims to equip young people with knowledge and skills to implement climate adaptive programs in their communities.
Amidst the several challenges brought by the global pandemic, RCY vows to perform the mission and core values of the Philippine Red Cross.
