MANILA, Philippines – September 17, 2021. The RMN Foundation, Inc., (Foundation) kicked off the RMN Networks anniversary month of August with its tablet giveaway program entitled, “Libreng Tablet para sa mga Mag-aaral.” The contest was held for four weeks through the Facebook page of the Foundation, where the question was posted every Monday and two lucky winners were announced every Friday.

For the first week of the giveaway, the Foundation asked about how the tablet can help the students for their education. Two winners came and were selected from Mandaue City in Cebu, and Quezon City in Metro Manila, who were both parents of PWD students.

One of the winners for the first week of the tablet giveaway, Rosalie Gesoro, expressed her gratitude in an interview, “Ang anak ko po ay isa siyang deaf kaya malaking tulong po itong napalanunan kong tablet para sa pag-aaral niya. Kasi po dapat nakikita niya ang teacher niya para sa virtual sign language [classes]. Tsaka ako rin po, magagamit ko rin po ito para sa pag-aaral ng sign language para may maituro po ako sa anak ko. Hindi ko po inaasahan na mapapalanunan ko ito kaya maraming salamat po sa RMN Foundation para sa libreng tablet.”

For three consecutive weeks, the lucky winners were picked from Naic, Cavite and Libon, Albay in Luzon, Pontevedra, Capiz in Visayas, and Zamboanga City and Cagayan de Oro City in Mindanao. Simultaneously, some selected RMN stations in key areas such as MANILA, DAGUPAN, NAGA, ILOILO, CEBU, BACOLOD, TACLOBAN, GENERAL SANTOS, BUTUAN, SURIGAO, and ZAMBOANGA, and RMN’s affiliate station DWWW 774, implemented the distribution of tablets on their respective social media pages. Over hundred MyPhone Tablets were distributed nationwide to support the students’ online education and distance learning program.

The Foundation would like to express its appreciation to the Office of Senator Kiko Pangilinan for sponsoring the tablets that were given away to deserving families and students.

The Foundation continues to take part in the initiatives that will help sustain the education of the youth amidst the pandemic. In the onset of the COVID-19, RMN Foundation established one of its pillars, Radyo Edukasyon, to provide media support for the delivery of various quality education programs through the RMN Network’s radio broadcasting stations.
